Version 1.4 is now available.

In addition to the functionality noted in the 1.3 thread, 1.4 offers the following...

3 Custom Content Bars for the Header
You can use these to add banners, create entirely custom headers for your site, or mix them with the existing bars.

XML Sitemap Functionality
The Privateer theme can now create an xml sitemap for you to ensure that your pages and articles show up quickly on the major search engines without any extra work.

Above and Below Content Areas for each sidebar
You can place content areas above and below each sidebar. The current implementation uses table cells, so if you use the above content area ( or below content area ) on both sidebars you should try to make them the same height.

Google AdSense for Search
If you use Google AdSense for Search, you can easily replace the default search bar with Googles AdSense search bar. At this time I recommend having google serve up the results page or creating a custom wordpress page to show the results. You can use the WordPress search page to do so, but will need to alter .htaccess files to do so without violating the AdSense Terms of Service.

Bug Fixes:
  • Quick Sets now properly update any activated custom displays.
  • Minor wording fixes

Bug Fix Update:

No Comments on Post and Page templates:
Some people were not having comments properly displayed on the single Post and single Page templates.

As best I can tell, this is due to a change that came in wordpress 2.9.

The bug is fixed. Please grab the attached files and over write your the current files if you are seeing this problem.

/privateer/home.php
/privateer/single.php

Reply redirect problems on sites where wordpress is not installed to the site root:
I had made a snafu ( and didn't catch it ) on the comments.php file, using the wrong variable name to grab the site root.

This is fixed by dropping in the attached comments.php file and overwriting your existing one.

/privateer/comments.php

Sorry about that!

If you would rather just install the latest code over what you already have, drop me an email and let me know.

If you activate the XML Sitemap and run into problems with a fatal error about WP_Error, please be sure to overwrite your current /privateer/classes/XMLSiteMap.class.php file with the one attached.

I hadn't realized that the http object could return a WP_Error object and didn't trap it. The new file should properly report the errors that wordpress is having when trying to send sitemap requests to the search engines.

Sorry about that! I hadn't ran into any errors on my live site so I had no idea =)

If you are wanting to use a graphical footer, but getting gaps above it, you should to update the /privateer/footer.php file by removing two sets of paragraph tags.

Near the very bottom, right below the < ! -- Footer -- > tag, you will see a couple of paragraph tags that will cause problems when using a graphical footer ( say, for a mini site graphics set ).

These look like < p > and < /p >. Strip them out, save the file, and things should start showing up without a small gap above the footer.

Alternately, download the attached zip file, extract the footer.php file, and overwrite the one that is currently in the /privateer folder.

Sorry about that! Once I finish the detailed tutorials on setting up the page pieces I'll be putting together a tutorial on using a mini site graphics set to setup your site.
