This forum is for discussion related to the Privateer Theme for WordPress.

If you are requesting help, please use the Help and Support forum.

If you are requesting new functionality, please use the Feature Requests forum.

Pretty much everything else related to the theme would go in this forum.

Hi Tony,

I am not that experience yet with the privateer theme. I was wondering if it's possible to configure the Privateer theme to look like the adsense Wordpress theme which was recently offered in a WSO. The WSO titled was named "The Adsense Crusher System" by Gabibeowulf.
Thanks,
Rene.

Hi Rene,

Just taking a quick look, I don't see any reason that one couldn't easily setup the Privateer to have the same look. When I get a chance this evening, I'll see about creating a quick display to give the exact look in question.

While not obvious, there are a lot of areas for ad placement within the privateer theme...so sticking a bar in the header, an ad above the sidebar, image ads above the post content, and an adsense ad below the post content should be no problem.

The only thing I see that the privateer doesn't (yet) do is place adsense blocks inside of the post area itself...but using the post side box custom display you can place an adsense block to either side of your post content.

Anywise, I'll add an update this evening.

Hi Rene,

Sorry about the delay. I've been spending every waking hour working on the theme and completely forgot about your request. I'll make a point of getting a quick set made and put up tomorrow to mimic the theme in question.

I haven't made a mimic set...instead I wrote up a tutorial to show how to get that functionality with just about ANY look that you choose to use with the privateer theme.

<a href="http://www.theprivateertheme.com/articles/how-to-get-a-look-like-the-adsense-crusher-theme-using-the-privateer.html">Setting up AdSense Blocks on the Home Page</a>

I will have a quick set finished and posted here Sunday evening...but the tutorial should let you get things setup the way you want easily.

The Quick Set and instructions for it are now done:

If you see more looks that you would like to have, just let me know.

And thank you for the great suggestion for a quick set.

You can, of course, make any quick set do the same thing by:
  • Adding a custom bar with an adsense link unit to the header and styling it
  • Adding images to the template panels page display above postlist html block.
  • Adding an adsense ad unit to the template panels page display below postlist html block.
  • Adding an adsense link unit above either ( or both ) sidebars and styling the container for it

Definitely let me know if you run into any troubles with it and I'll be happy to help.

Hey Tony,

Really getting into the Privateer and love it!

Just wondering...are you ever going to offer an affiliate program to sell this great theme?

If so, let me know your thoughts about that cause I know you are still running the WSO. I think I could do very well selling it.

Thanks!

Yes indeed. The affiliate program is already set up via e-junkie. Full details are available at http://www.theprivateertheme.com/privateer-affiliate-program-details

I have it set up to allow both creating your own sales pages and selling direct via e-junkie and simply directing people to my sales page.

Sounds good. I'll update that page today and put more information into it on how to set things up.

I'm hoping to find someone to make a nice set of graphics for the theme site here soon so I can make things look a bit cleaner...and I'll have some more clean looks up shortly to boot.
